Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to the heart of Meals With Grandma!
This is where we answer some of the most common questions we’ve received over the years from our amazing readers and home cooks. Whether you’re trying out your first banana bread or are knee-deep in sourdough starters, we’re here to support you with real, tested advice from a real kitchen.

If you don’t see your question here, I’d love to hear from you, email me anytime at Contact.

🍰 How do you test your recipes?

Every recipe on Meals With Grandma is developed and tested in my own kitchen, by a real person, in real-life conditions.
Before a recipe is published, it goes through multiple rounds of testing (typically 3 to 10 times). I test each dish using different ovens, brands, and tools, ensuring it can be replicated in a variety of kitchens, not just mine. This means you’re getting a recipe that works, whether you’re cooking in a brand-new home kitchen or a decades-old stove setup.
I also take detailed notes during each round, which helps shape the final instructions, tips, and timing you see in every post. Nothing is published without being tasted, adjusted, and written with clarity.

🥄 Are your recipes beginner-friendly?

Absolutely, and intentionally so.
At Meals With Grandma, I’ve made it a mission to create recipes that are approachable without sacrificing flavor or integrity. Every recipe comes with step-by-step guidance, helpful photos (when applicable), and clear notes based on what I’ve learned through trial and error over years of home cooking.
Whether it’s your first time cracking an egg or you’re refining your baking skills, these recipes are crafted to guide you with confidence, care, and clarity.

😔 What if a recipe didn’t turn out right?

That happens, and I want you to know, it’s part of learning.
I’ve had my fair share of burnt crusts and sunken cakes over the years. If something didn’t go as expected, here’s how you can get support:
Leave a comment on the recipe post, chances are, another reader has had a similar question.
Email me directly at Contact with specifics: Did you make any ingredient substitutions?
What kind of oven or equipment did you use?
Which step felt unclear?
The more context you provide, the better I can help troubleshoot. My goal is to make sure you feel successful in your kitchen, not frustrated.

🧮 Do you include nutrition information?

Yes, most recipes on Meals With Grandma include estimated nutrition information at the bottom of the recipe card. These are calculated based on standard ingredient data and typical serving sizes.
That said, nutrition can vary widely based on brands, preparation techniques, and any substitutions you make. If you have specific dietary concerns or medical needs, I recommend consulting with a licensed nutritionist or dietitian.

📸 Can I use your photos or recipes on my blog or social media?

Thank you so much for asking, and I’m flattered you’d want to share!
You’re welcome to share one photo along with a clear link back to the original recipe post on Meals With Grandma. I ask that you do not republish full recipes or use any photos for commercial purposes without written permission.
All content on this site, including text, photos, and recipes, is created by me (unless otherwise noted), and represents countless hours of work, testing, and editing.
If you’re unsure whether your use qualifies, feel free to reach out at Contact.
